Al Bayt Stadium Qatar

Shaped like a traditional Bedouin tent, Al Bayt Stadium, on the edge of Al Khor City, mixes Qatari’s history and warm hospitality with the ultra-modern. The stadium was one of the first venues built to host the FIFA World Cup 2022™, making it the largest cylindrical stadium. The word Al Bayt translates to the home, depicting the Qatari traditional tents and their warmth.
The construction of Al Bayt Stadium officially started in September 2015 and was completed three years later, with a reported cost of $847 million. The inauguration took place on 30 November 2021, with the opening ceremony of the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021™ attended by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Al Bayt Stadium was also the setting for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ opening game between Qatar and Ecuador. Designed by Dar Al-Handasah and built in partnership with Aspire Foundation, Al Bayt Stadium has a Class A* rating from the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). The stadium uses green building materials and the latest technology to preserve energy and water.
