Located in Doha's Aspire Zone, the Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital (QOSMH) will provide Qatar's national athletes with international-standard orthopaedic care and sports injury prevention and treatment.
Funded by His Highness Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Special Envoy to His Highness Emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, QOSMH offers the following services:
The Sports Medicine Outpatient Clinic offers state-of-the-art diagnostic tools (including MRI scans, fluoroscopy, and CAT scans), the services of two sports podiatrists, and dental facilities.
Orthopaedic Surgery includes four digital operating theatres, 50 in-patient beds, and a six-bed ICU.
The Exercise and Sports Science team consists of two exercise physiologists, two podiatrists, two psychologists, and two nutritionists. Athletes are able to train for high altitude events in the department's 25 normobaric hypoxic dormitories.
Radiology includes MRI and ultrasound, and Laboratory is equipped to conduct more than 500 specialist tests.
The Research and Education Centre is developing specialised sports medicine and sport sciences post-graduate degrees.
Physiotherapy and strength and conditioning are provided by the Rehabilitation service, as well as hydrotherapy and thalassotherapy.
Guest Services ensures QOSMH's 5-star level of service.
Since accepting its first patient on 15 April 2007, the hospital has received more than 35,000 patient visits, and has been fulfilling its mission to be on the cutting edge of sports medicine. It performed the first double row, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and was the first hospital in Qatar to perform a double bundle arthroscopic posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.
