Take a look back at the eco-friendly innovation of Stadium 974, a distinctive temporary venue constructed for football’s greatest spectacle. The stadium takes its name from the 974 containers used in construction and is also a nod to Qatar's dialling code.
Designed as a temporary stadium for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, Stadium 974 stands out with its innovative modular design. Created by Spain's Fenwick Iribarren Architects in collaboration with Schlaich Bergermann Partner and Hilson Moran, this stadium utilised repurposed shipping containers and recycled steel, resulting in cost-effective construction and reduced waste. Each container was adapted to accommodate various stadium elements, including seats, concessions, and restrooms, making it a versatile and sustainable sporting venue.
