Canada’s ‘Most Wanted’ Fugitive Arrested in Qatar

Rabih Alkhalil, one of Canada’s most wanted fugitives, has been arrested in Qatar after evading authorities for three years.
The 38-year-old was the subject of an INTERPOL Red Notice on charges including murder and conspiracy to import cocaine. Alkhalil went on the run following his escape from a Canadian prison while he was on trial for murder.

The arrest was carried out through close cooperation between the Qatar Ministry of Interior, the INTERPOL National Central Bureaus in Doha and Ottawa, deployed Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Liaison Officers, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia, and the RCMP Federal Policing Pacific Region.

Alkhalil is currently being held in Qatar as authorities coordinate his extradition back to Canada.
