Qatar Confirmed as Host of FIFA Intercontinental Cup Final Phase

Qatar has officially been confirmed as the host nation for the final three matches of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup™ 2025, presented by Aramco. The matches will take place in December, with the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium set to stage both the FIFA Derby of the Americas and the FIFA Challenger Cup.

The prestigious annual global club competition brings together champions from all six confederations, offering them a chance to compete on football’s ultimate international stage.

Key Fixtures in Qatar: 

Match 3 – FIFA Derby of the Americas (10 December 2025):

Mexican giants Cruz Azul, winners of the Concacaf Champions Cup 2025, will face the newly crowned CONMEBOL Libertadores champions (to be confirmed on 29 November).

Match 4 – FIFA Challenger Cup (13 December 2025):

The Derby winners will then meet Egypt’s Pyramids FC, who earned their spot after lifting the FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup in Jeddah on 23 September, defeating both Auckland City FC (OFC champions) and Al Ahli FC (AFC champions).

Final – FIFA Intercontinental Cup (17 December 2025):

The Challenger Cup champions will battle Paris Saint-Germain, winners of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, for the ultimate annual club football crown. The venue for the final will be announced in due course.

Qatar’s Growing Role in Global Football:

This milestone further underlines Qatar’s standing as a major host for world football. Alongside the Intercontinental Cup, the nation will also welcome the FIFA U-17 World Cup™ in November and the FIFA Arab Cup™ in December, making full use of the world-class stadiums and infrastructure developed for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™.

Last year’s edition marked the debut of the tournament’s updated format, with Real Madrid defeating Pachuca before nearly 70,000 fans at Lusail Stadium.

By hosting the climax of this year’s competition, Qatar continues to showcase its capacity as a global sporting hub, bringing together champions from across continents for a December festival of football.
