Al Wakrah Sanctioned After Disciplinary Committee Ruling in Qatar Stars League

The Qatar Football Association Disciplinary Committee has issued a decision against Al Wakrah Club following a protest filed by Qatar Club regarding player eligibility in the Doha Bank Stars League.

After reviewing the complaint, the committee confirmed that Al Wakrah player Ridwan Barkan had been previously sent off for violent conduct in a match against Al Shamal on March 12, 2026. According to competition regulations, the red card carried an automatic suspension of at least two matches. However, the player was fielded in a subsequent match against Qatar Club on April 3, 2026, despite not completing the required suspension.

As a result, the committee ruled in favor of Qatar Club, accepting the protest both formally and substantively.

Key sanctions include:

  • A one-match suspension for Ridwan Barkan, in addition to the suspension already served, along with a fine of QAR 5,000.

  • Al Wakrah is handed a 3-0 defeat for the match in question.

  • The club is also fined QAR 10,000.

The decision was made in accordance with Articles 47 and 34 of the Disciplinary Regulations for the 2025–2026 season, emphasizing strict adherence to player eligibility and competition rules.
